The ‘Electric MultiTaxi’ project was born in Turin: it will be paid on the basis of mileage. 10 thousand vehicles on the street since 2024

The new multi-function electric taxi is born: 10 thousand vehicles on the road as early as 2024

The new ‘Etioca Taxi Cub’ electric taxi will be produced in the historic Coggiola body shop, recently acquired by the Etioca company based in Gibraltar.

A project presented yesterday, June 2nd, in world preview by the Minister of Economic Development of Gibraltar and the deputy Carlo Giacometto.

As explained by Mark Ishakov, Israeli entrepreneur, CEO and founder of the company, the new Anna platform will develop not only taxis (produced in the historic Coggiola workshop), but also work vehicles, ambulances, emergency and security and defense vehicles.

From 2024 the first 10,000 vehicles will be put on the road up to a production of 100,000 units per year starting from 2027.

The initial investment will be $ 400 million. Within the historic Orbassano headquarters, explains the Ansa Agency, “120 top figures will be employed over the next 5 years, including designers, planners and production technicians, while in southern Italy a pilot plant will start which will see the hiring of over 800 employees. , mostly skilled workers. The construction of the future Giga Plant for the production of large-scale vehicles will also be announced soon ”.

The multi-function taxi has been patented worldwide and has found the interest of associations of European, US and Middle Eastern taxi drivers thanks to its innovative use features and integrated management and payment software.

But the business model is also new. As Il Sole 24 Ore explains, in fact, “the electric vehicle is given to the driver in possession of a license for use by Etioca without providing for the purchase. The taxi driver therefore pays only the real mileage traveled ”.
